Noble plasters: the art of texture on walls
Before wallpaper and industrial acrylic paints, the walls of the finest Parisian interiors were dressed in noble plasters — Venetian stucco, marmorino, tadelakt, lime wash. These ancestral techniques are enjoying a revival in contemporary luxury renovation projects for their depth of texture, durability and unique character.
Wild Renovation works with specialised plasterers and decorators to integrate these techniques into your luxury renovation projects in Paris, in harmony with the overall site.
"A Venetian plaster wall captures light differently at every hour of the day. It is a living material."
The techniques we master
Venetian plaster
Venetian plaster is a lime and marble-powder render applied in multiple layers by trowelling and smoothing with a metal spatula. Once waxed, it presents a semi-gloss surface that imitates marble or polished stone. Its visual depth is unmatched. It is particularly suited to living rooms and bedrooms in Haussmannian apartments, where it harmonises perfectly with period mouldings.
Marmorino
A cousin of Venetian plaster, marmorino is a lime render incorporating coarser marble aggregates that give it a luxurious grained appearance. More robust and textured than stucco, it is ideal for entrance halls and prestigious dining rooms.
Tadelakt
Tadelakt is a Moroccan lime plaster made waterproof by polishing with a river stone and treating with black soap. Its smooth, gently undulating surface, naturally impervious to water, makes it the ideal wall coating for luxury bathrooms. It pairs beautifully with Gessi fixtures and freestanding bathtubs.
Lime wash
Lime wash offers a matt, velvety alternative to acrylic paints. Its slightly irregular texture and breathability make it an ideal choice for the old plaster walls of Parisian apartments. It comes in a palette of natural earthy tones, ochres and off-whites.
Polished concrete wall finish and lime coats
Concrete-effect wall renders on walls and ceilings are highly sought after in contemporary interiors. Our applicators create continuous surfaces with mineral depth, coordinated with polished concrete floors for absolute material continuity.
Coordination with the entire project
The application of noble plasters is a late-stage intervention, after floor finishes and before joinery and lighting installation. Wild Renovation precisely coordinates our plasterers within the overall schedule to guarantee perfect protection of other finishes.
