Herringbone parquet: the hallmark of prestigious Parisian flooring
Herringbone parquet is arguably the most iconic installation pattern found in Haussmannian apartments. Its V-shaped chevrons create an elegant directional motif that brings movement and depth to the most distinguished rooms. Wild Renovation installs herringbone parquet in solid or engineered oak, with plank widths, angles and stains tailored to each project.
Parquet installation in Paris is a specialty that demands precision and experience. Our Parisian parquet craftsmen master all traditional and contemporary patterns, from herringbone to broken stick, diagonal and simple chevron layouts.
"A well-laid herringbone parquet gives the impression that the apartment has always looked this way — that is the mark of fine craftsmanship."
The patterns we install
Classic herringbone (Point de Hongrie)
The classic herringbone pattern uses planks cut at 45 degrees assembled in chevrons. We install it in planks 60 to 90 mm wide, in natural, smoked or aged solid oak. The point angle is typically 45 degrees but can vary according to room proportions to optimise the visual effect.
Large-format engineered herringbone
For projects requiring high thermal tolerance (underfloor heating) or very large rooms, engineered oak herringbone is the most reliable technical solution. Planks 120 to 180 mm wide deliver a contemporary, luxurious appearance with the same surface quality as solid wood.
Chevron (broken stick)
Chevron parquet is a historic pattern from the Versailles era, now highly popular in contemporary renovations. More subtle than herringbone, it creates a 90-degree motif that is perfectly suited to large rooms and open-plan lofts.
Straight and diagonal installation
Diagonal installation at 45 degrees is an excellent option for corridors and elongated spaces: it breaks the directionality of the room and visually enlarges the area. Our parquet craftsmen achieve it with flawless edge finishes.

Antique parquet renovation
Wild Renovation also carries out antique parquet renovation in Parisian apartments: sanding, crack filling with wax or wood paste, levelling, re-staining and oiling or varnishing. Restoring an original Haussmannian parquet is often more respectful of the heritage than replacing it.
